Brookfield hired OMNIPLAN to lead retail planning efforts at the World Financial Center in New York City. The mixed-use center consists of more than eight million square feet of urban office and retail space. Constructed in the 1980’s and designed by Caesar Pelli the center overlooks the Hudson River. OMNIPLAN planned and redesigned approximately 250,000 square feet of retail space for the first and second floors. Its redesign allowed the center to be the catalyst to integrate and drive foot traffic into Battery Park. The plan incorporated food, fashion, and entertainment in the surrounding urban district. OMNIPLAN worked successfully with a very diverse constituency through this assignment. We engaged a wide variety of stakeholders including the property owner, Brookfield, retail leasing specialists, additional architectural firms, the Battery Park City Authority and the City of New York Plan Commission.
