The Boardwalk at Granite Park Plano, Texas
- Food Service
Centered on an existing retention pond, this restaurant park serves the adjacent Granite Office Park as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. With its back to a major highway intersection, the retention pond was repurposed to provide a focal point for restaurant patrons and to serve as a backdrop for live music.

Creating Amenities for the Office Park
The Boardwalk offers six new restaurants that are walking distance from the office park, making it highly accessible during and after work hours. The multi-building development flanks the pond with a layering of restaurant patios, a pedestrian path, and lounge seating, creating an outdoor amenity for office park employees and visitors alike.
The site was originally set aside as temporary retail to be eventually replaced with a large commercial signature building. Instead of resorting to the usual road and parking lot facing site configuration, we turned the model inside-out. The existing retention pond was converted into an asset that would become the centerpiece of a true people place. The buildings were oriented to face the pond, consequently creating a more pleasant & hospitable outdoor environment for the restaurant patrons, with the buildings themselves acting as a buffer against the harshness of highway interchange and parking lot. The boardwalk has now become the heart of this office campus, as well as a destination for the local communities.
The warm material palate of the boardwalk in addition to its fresh and modern design is attracting local food restaurateurs with an eye for aesthetics. While Granite Park’s current daytime population is more than 6,000 people, it will be 10,000 people once all phases are complete. With the recent addition of the 299-key Hilton hotel and conference center, the Boardwalk is an inviting restaurant destination for this ever-growing development.
