Adaptive Space

The goal of the project was to provide flexibility and agility in the laboratory design capable of adapting to the changing science teams and research typology. With this goal in mind, the spaces respond to the needs of the researchers, students, and faculty they serve with movable casework, flexible partitions, and mobile workstations that are quickly and easily reconfigurable, allowing the building to continuously evolve.

Design Considerations

MREB-2 is designed to encourage maximum interaction between the diverse user groups of the building. Intersections at the core of each level provide the opportunity for collaboration as well as direct access to daylight and scenic views of the adjacent wooded ravine. The building's exterior is designed to reflect the forms and materials of the existing campus' architecture.
