OMNIPLAN was selected by the University of Texas Systems’ Office of Facilities Planning and Construction to design a three-story research and teaching facility. This 150,000 SF building was conceived as a start-up engineering school dedicated to basic and advanced research in microelectronics, telecommunications, computer science and manufacturing science. The three-story structure houses state-of-the-art clean rooms, science research laboratories, workrooms and shops, lecture halls, video classrooms, seminar rooms and offices.
The administration offices are conveniently located adjacent to the commons area, an atrium surrounded by classrooms, study rooms and engineering labs. This area is a gathering center to encourage interaction among students and faculty.
