Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Los Angeles, California
OMNIPLAN redesigned Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza from a Class-C to a Class-A retail center. Built in the 1980’s, the center is located on 43-acre site in South Los Angeles, and its owners are committed to making the mall more integrated into its surrounding neighborhood. The first phase of the repositioning included tearing out select interior walls to improve visibility and create a greater sense of openness. Skylights and recessed light fixtures were added to enhance light levels. Additionally, new flooring, wayfinding graphics, and a larger and more varied dining court created a more modern and functional facility for visitors. The mall’s anchors are Sears, Macy’s and a unique Wal-Mart, one of the few urban locations of the big-box retailer. OMNIPLAN’s team completed the project while all anchors remained open for business.
